For as long as African history stretches back, the Calabash has been an intricate cultural artifact of the African. Till date, it's significance is still buried in our lingual, so much so that the traditional wedding rites of marriage in certain cultures are called 'The wine carrying Ceremony' usually depicted by palm-wine in a calabash.
The Calabash and gourd in African homes is one of the most useful tools around. Their uses ranges from drinking tools to eating and preservation and storing of food and other items. In many modern homes, they are displayed as art in strategic spots around the house to showcase a rounded African heritage.
